it has been so interesting to see that when male artists do something eccentric especially in their lyrics the audience is like he is a genius you don’t understand and is almost expected of them. while female artists especially with a large women audience, step a bit outside their artistic zones because of very major life changes (re taylor and halsey this year etc) then suddenly everyone is at their throats and calling them cringy because you already went with a headset about how a certain album is going to sound and will be about, and decided not to let the art sit with you for a day at least but instead record your first opinion of it being wow that’s weird. it’s almost as if women cannot be weird in art and the attitude translates to other things as well. we always need to maintain a clean polished surface even when we are struggling mentally and physically. the culture of viewing male artists as suffering artists which turned them into geniuses almost to an extent where they cannot function and connect with the ‘normal’ society needs to die.

I stopped caring about morality in M/F ships and the whole argument that the female character deserves better than to be with that toxic man because, when it comes to toxic F/F ships, nobody applies that same logic. No one ever says the female character deserves better than to be with a toxic woman, no one nitpicks the power dynamics, and no one makes long posts about how unhealthy it is. But the second you call it out, you’re lesbophobic. It’s never about morality.
